SAVE A FILE TO A SPECIFIC DIRECTORY – THE EASY WAY
If you create a document say in Textedit and then save it. It’s usually straight-forward to save it. You click on File – Save As – type in the filename then save the file. But did you ever notice that the default in the Save As Dialog box is to *not* show you the directory structure? The Mac OS X assumes you’re going to save it on one of your main directories listed in Finder. If you want to save to a specific directory, you’ll have to tweak something to show you the Finder directories. Read the rest of this entry »

Hunt And Kill A Process
Have you ever run an application for a while and then it just freezes? So then you try to end the process. You try to do a Command-Q; it doesn’t work. Then you try clicking on the application-name on the menu bar to do a “Quit <application name>”; it doesn’t work. Last you try doing a control-click or right-click on the application’s icon in the dock and then clicking on Quit only to find this
doesn’t work either. At this point you know you have a hung process — an application just sitting
there in limbo not responding to any of your prompts. Read the rest of this entry »

iPad Basics and Usage
I’ve been using the iPad now for about three weeks since its been released. I thought I’d give you an idea of what it’s like to use on an everyday basis.
As you may know the iPad, out-of-the-box, comes with some apps including Safari, mail, photos, iPod and calendar. If you want more apps including iBooks, these can only be downloaded from the appstore. You can connect to the appstore from the iPad and do the download right from there. You don’t necessarily have to connect first to iTunes, download your apps, then sync them to your iPad as required by the iPod. Read the rest of this entry »

iPads Barred
According to Investors Business Daily newspaper, (16 April 2010, p. A2) Israel bars import of Apple iPads. Custom officials there have cited that
the iPad consumes too much wi-fi capacity and may adversely affect other devices. The officials have already confiscated 10 iPads in the
process. Tourists, in addition, are not allowed to bring the tablet into the country until it can be proven that the
device complies with local transmitter standards. The US allows higher wi-fi power levels than are allowed in Israel and Europe.
The Moral Is . . .
Just looking at the circumstances, if the custom officials are not letting residents import iPads, why would they allow
tourists to bring them in? If you’re traveling to Israel, leave your iPad at home. : )

When you take breaks away from your Mac, your Mac will go to “sleep”. And after the break, the Mac will be re-awakened. But when your Mac is awakened, you may find that your Magic Mouse is still asleep. Read the rest of this entry »
